14-Year-Old Boy Killed in Melbourne E-Bike Crash as Calls Grow for Crackdown

A 14-year-old boy has died while riding a high-powered electric motorbike just a few hundred metres from his home in Melbourne’s northeast.
The tragedy has renewed concerns about the safety of high-powered e-bikes and other electric devices being used illegally on public roads. Within hours of the incident, other riders were reportedly seen riding at high speed along the same stretch of road as mourners gathered.
Local residents are now calling for stronger enforcement and a crackdown on illegal e-bikes and electric motorbikes in the area.
